On Capitol Hill, the House has passed legislation to advance aid to Ukraine and apply sanctions and export controls to Russia.
This legislation was sponsored by New York Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks.
It seeks to cement U.S.
assistance to Ukraine by providing more than a billion dollars in security and reconstruction aid.
It would also make another $8 billion available for Ukraine's defense through loans.
Here is Meeks speaking to reporters after the vote.

Now, supporters of this bill are hoping it will put pressure on the Senate to pass similar legislation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed peace talks to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
In an open letter, Zelensky told Putin, Ukraine is ready for a full ceasefire for the duration of these negotiations.
