It will lower tariffs to 15 percent from the previous 20 percent, and U.S.
tariffs on goods from Taiwan are now on par with both Japan and South Korea.
Also, as a part of this deal, Taiwan's semiconductor companies will make at least $250 billion in direct investments
toward American energy and artificial intelligence operations.

China is pulling the plug on a key advantage held by high-frequency traders.
We are told commodity futures exchanges in Shanghai and Guangzhou are among those ordering local brokerage firms to shift their servers for clients out of data centers run by the exchanges.
Now, this change will affect the speed advantage for high-frequency firms, including Citadel, Chain Street and Jump Trading.
Democratic Senator Alyssa Slotkin of Michigan is being investigated after she organized and appeared in a video with other Democrats urging military service members to resist illegal orders.
Slotkin said the office of the U.S.
attorney in Washington, D.C., run by Jeanine Pirro, reached out asking to interview her.
Now, this brings the number of lawmakers who have publicly confirmed contact with federal prosecutors to five.
