and Taiwan have agreed to a trade deal.
It will lower tariffs to 15% from the previous 20%, and U.S.
tariffs on goods from Taiwan are now on par with both Japan and South Korea.
Also, as a part of this deal, Taiwan semiconductor companies will make at least $250 billion in direct investments toward American energy and artificial intelligence operations.

Now, this trade deal comes as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, the world's top maker of AI chips, released earnings today.
And at the same time, Taiwan Semi earmarked a hefty increase in capital spending.
