I'd say the first discovery was in 1998, and then around 2005, it really became mainstream because one company did a study to show that doing an endovascular treatment of the veins was possible and was effective with long-term benefits.
So basically, what went from an invasive procedure where they would strip out the feeding veins โ
went to a very minor endovascular procedure, you just do it with ultrasound in this case, and you basically do it with catheters and wires, and it's very similar to angioplasty in that sense.
So really, my training and my work
for many years before that really was involving very similar techniques.
Yeah.
And then also it really revolutionized you with the advent of better ultrasound.
So nowadays, as you may or may not know, you can have a 3d ultrasound of your baby and see almost a, you know, a picture of that child in the uterus.
Yeah, totally.
Really advanced.
So now it's,
We now have 2D and 3D ultrasound that's highly effective and very clear.
And you can really see what you're doing.
In the old days when I started doing veins, we didn't have as good imaging equipment.
I would say it was a much more difficult procedure.
And now that we have such excellent imaging equipment,
It's become very easy to diagnose and treat these problems.
So the treatment has evolved from a very invasive and long recovery to a very simple procedure.
And that really advanced the treatment.
So many more people were eligible or interested in getting treatments.
