So for patients interested, I would reach out to my insurance and say, hey, I've heard about this thing called pharmacogenomics or gene study.
Can you tell me a little bit more on how I can get that done or the coverage for that?
Usually some programs do have a physician that's already like contracted.
Usually all they have to do is sign up and take, it's usually like a cheek swab or saliva sample.
And then a pharmacist would actually go over the results with the member.
and explain everything that's going on.
And then I've seen where if a patient wants to, they can have those results sent over to the provider and a report done by the pharmacist.
So as long as there is data for that pathway for different medications and it's on that labs or that testing sites panel, those medications will be added.
So it's a plethora of medications that we look at.
Even going to Stan's point about pain meds, like pain medications are one of the main meds
pathways that we look at because of the way they're metabolized.
So that's usually always on the report, whether or not codeine is good for a patient or not.
Like for me, example, I've done it just as a guinea pig and I can't take codeine.
Codeine's not good for me.
I might have adverse reactions or bad side effects because it builds up in my system.
So now when I go to the dentist or the doctor, I know, please don't put me on anything with codeine in it.
