And that's it.
You're out of space.
And unlike soldiers, the horses can't row.
They can't man the riggings.
They're not going to do anything for you.
They're just there.
They need a ton of food.
They don't like being there.
Worst sailors ever.
You need stalls for them.
Yeah, worst sailors ever.
And so moving cavalry is just an enormous pain in the butt.
And so the solution almost invariably is to seek local supply wherever you're going.
Famously, what the Spanish end up doing in the new world is they bring over relatively small numbers of horses, whatever they can fit.
And then they breed them in the Americas.
And this of course gives us the American Mustang, which is the quote unquote wild, technically feral American horse, which is a descendant, you can look biologically, of Spanish workhorses.
You know, like cheap Spanish, like big, bulky, strong, cheap Spanish horses.
They're all, yeah.
And that becomes the sort of the horse stock from which all of the other North American horses for the most part are drawn.
And that there's a whole sort of second side on like the logistics of horses on the American Great Plains where you have that.
