So when you ask them how they are, often if a person is stressed, their body's no longer even able to produce cortisol, so they feel blah.
That's the non-scientific word.
So they're not great, but they're not terrible, but it's this emotional blunting.
We also
see social withdrawal, people withdrawing from social situations, reduced efficacy around their work, feeling like they can't produce the quality or quantity of work that they once did, prolonged feelings of physical or psychological exhaustion, and increased cynicism.
They're usually the consistent denominators in people who are in the throes of burnout.
