And I can remember being in the maturity unit and kind of thinking, maybe the signal is not great here.
And then it kind of finished out.
And I think I had like 100 likes and 50 comments or something.
And I was thinking, gosh, Facebook fame has arrived.
And granted, this is 2010 or whatever.
But then I remember thinking, I saw people who didn't like my page and didn't like the picture.
And I was thinking, do they think my child is ugly?
Why did they not like the picture?
And started getting into this paranoiac kind of thing.
And I remember thinking, as a man in his 30s at the time who'd been through multiple years of personal therapy, if I can get sucked into this, what's that like for a 13-year-old girl who's trying to find her way in the world?
And that was the moment where I said...
there's something in this that's far bigger than just looking at your cousin's pictures in Australia and checking into wherever you're having your dinner.
And as the more I looked into it, then obviously I saw the potential for pornography and all of these things.
being at conferences back in 2011, 2012 and presenting on the dangers of technology.
And back then we were still romanticised about it.
We were still, oh, look at all the songs I can have on my iPad and all that.
And people didn't want to hear it.
I felt like kind of David McWilliams during the boom, you know, when he was talking about this bust that was coming.
