I've seen things that I can't explain, you know.
But again, there's a difference between, I guess, me seeing something that I can't explain and then me developing a kind of world in which ghosts could inhabit and trying to understand how that would even function, you know, that epistemology would even work.
One of the things that gave me chills the most, I was, so I live in a small town in the Ozarks, and there's a very famous haunted hotel just down the street from my house.
And I went on an overnight weekend paranormal investigation there, and we went into the most haunted room, you know.
And I was with two or three other investigators who, you know, probably certainly believed in ghosts.
I mean, they were, presumably they did.
I was probably one of the only ones there that didn't.
And I hadn't been on very many paranormal investigations at this point.
So I didn't really know what to expect.
And they, one of the investigators pulled out these two plastic toy balls, and they were like cat toys that you might buy at the store for your cat.
And it was like a little clear ball had a red button on top.
And if you push the button,
It would turn it on.
And then if the cat hits it, it lights up.
Right.
And so the idea was they wanted to use this as a way to talk with the ghost.
And I thought, okay, as a scientist, I'm thinking, okay, that's a reason.
It's a fairly simple instrument because a lot of times paranormal investigators bring out these really complex instruments and there are a lot of things that might influence them.
They bought this the day before at the local dollar store.
This is a very simple kind of thing that's not intended for use with ghosts.
