Yeah.
People who create true crime stories know that that's either intuitively or otherwise, they know that that's what people are most interested in is understanding the mind of the killer.
Right.
There are other things that are important to like understanding the victim and how they got where they got and how they succeeded or didn't succeed in getting away.
But really, the focus is often on why the killer did became the person that the killer became.
Right.
And why they did what they did.
And in order to tell that story, in order to try to answer that question, you do have to dive into the killer's day-to-day life and the way they grew up and how they behaved around other people.
And so what you inevitably get from that is a story that is a bit more focused sometimes on the perpetrator, on the killer.
And that gets some bad press, I think, sometimes as glorifying people who are immoral or glorifying killers.
And I don't think that's what's happening at all.
It's a byproduct of people being interested in not becoming a victim to someone like that and trying to understand how someone could be that awful.

You know, you're not concerned about them, right?
Probably that a lot of that curiosity is driven by the same underlying factor.
well i think i think there are some reality shows that do that right so reality shows show you relationships i think true crime shows you yeah the extreme version of aggression and a lot of reality shows that are really popular like love island or something show you the extreme version of relationships yeah with other people um so i think there are some who who do it but it's not as pointed as true crime right so is that like a true crime is like you said the the most specific
