Epigenetics.
So epigenetics is...
On top of your genes, there are switches.
And you can turn them on or off based on what you're exposed to.
And so imagine this.
When you have a baby girl, so in our family, we have five girls.
Yes, I have five sisters.
God hates me.
You have five sisters?
I have five sisters and five daughters.
And I love them all dearly.
But when a baby girl is born, she's born with all of the eggs in her ovaries.
She will ever have.
Yes.
And what happens to her...
is turning on or off those switches, making illness more or less likely in her babies and in her grandbabies.
Because if she has a baby girl, that baby girl is born with all of the eggs she'll ever have.
And I think we should teach every teenage girl and boy
that your decisions have generational consequences.
I'm a huge advocate for teaching brain health early.
