And I think what I would really encourage with that is also to pause and to soak in the little victory.
This is so crucial, I think, in my opinion, is celebrating the small wins, that we don't quickly move on to the next thing because that kind of keeps us in this really unrelenting cycle.
But how do you pause and go, yeah, nice job, Emily?
Like that is, you worked for that.
What do you think you'd have to open up to to pause to celebrate it?
And I'm just wanting to add there too, like an invitation to wonder whether your inner critic is a good enough judge of your ability.
So if we are living by our internal critic's judgment... Mm-hmm.
I'm not sure if it's as good of a spokesperson for your actual abilities, for example, or your output.
And this is why having feedback from someone else is actually really, really important because they will be able to see what you're not seeing, for example, and that in some circumstances we might be better to pay attention to people
what other people are telling me I'm good at or where I can improve on things than to listen to that inner critic because that inner critic has an origin and a function and a purpose.
And in a lot of circumstances, the function is to protect me from further pain.
And that might mean that I will stop doing this.
It feels really hard, Josh.
