So, you know, and this is why I think in my opinion it's really important that when it comes to persevering on a goal, with a goal, is that it absolutely has to be tied to your values because otherwise what's really kind of β
But there will be many circumstances where maybe you've been working really hard, like you've been putting in the hours, you've been working so hard on this thing and it's just not happening.
And grit might say you just keep on going.
But we have to be really wary of the cost of keeping on going sometimes.
to both our sense of selves and our relationships around us.
And I think it's a really hard call because for many people when you've put in all of this hard work, letting go just brings up so many things.
It opens you up to grief.
And so it makes sense in some circumstances that we're like, I'm not willing to face that.
I'm just going to keep on going.
But meanwhile, like my relationships are crumbling.
Maybe I haven't made any money.
I'm in financial crisis, but I'm not willing to let go of this thing.
And so it really requires a lot of attunement to how this is working for me.
In some circumstances, it might be like a question that can be helpful is, am I just delaying the inevitable here by keeping on going?
And this is a really relevant question for retirement.
Like, I'm going to retire in two years, provided I have enough financial security here to
