We want to have like to be a jack of all trades before we become the jack of one.
That's a really important point.
And actually, I guess I would really encourage to move away from the notion of natural ability and actually really come into what do I love?
And then how do I apply myself to this love?
And there's so much stuff there.
There's our own stories that we tell ourselves about our capacity for change and growth and
There's the stories that we tell ourselves about failures that I've had, that this doesn't work out for me.
We can also bring in the notion of a fixed or a growth mindset and they can take us in one or another direction.
So with a fixed mindset, we believe that our ability is fixed and not changeable.
And in a growth mindset, we hold a belief about ourselves and the world that I can enact change and I can grow and develop skills.
So there's a whole lot of things that play into how I might pursue an interest.
But I want to acknowledge that really for a lot of people
there can be this big failure story that really gets in the way of pursuing something.
Because when we pursue something, it brings with it a risk.
And here is a risk of failure.
And so in order to avoid that feeling, we actually avoid the trying part.
But I get what you're saying, Josh, about the sense of there being some people that are so overtly naturally talented at something that it can make you feel left behind or lost or unanchored in some way.
Yeah, but I think that is the key point in here is that this is actually not about natural ability.
