Some patients say, well, it only happens intermittently.
And I say, yeah, that makes sense.
But I counsel them.
I try to get an assessment of their fluid intake.
caffeine, alcohol, what other interventions they've had.
And also, I like to get an assessment of what they do for a living.
What I find is certain professions, they have difficulty using the bathroom and access to bathrooms, particularly teachers and nurses.
And a lot of times it could develop voiding dysfunction over time.
And I have to counsel them on going to the bathroom more frequently.
It's amazing how many people...
don't realize that caffeine is related to overactive bladder.
You know, I've had patients that come in with a double-handed big gulp container and say they drink three of those and wonder why they have overactive bladder.
It's interesting.
I get a lot of patients that don't realize green tea has a lot of caffeine.
So we do a lot of counseling about caffeine intake, alcohol intake, and fluid management.
Sure, sure.
I mean, it's a good first step.
I find a lot of people have done exercises in the past.
There's also a lot of patients that don't have the time for it, unfortunately.
You know, with busy work schedules, physical therapy requires multiple visits, but I always talk about it.
