I mean, I didn't take any sort of direct passage.
Some kids say as a teenager, I knew I wanted to become a psychologist.
The opposite was true for me.
I was a teenager with no interest in forensic psychology.
I couldn't have told you what it was.
I thought I was going to be an English professor.
And I went to graduate school.
I did a master's degree in English.
Then I went and taught for a year at my undergraduate school.
Then I got a grant to study modern Irish literature at Trinity College in Dublin.
I went there for a year.
That was an absolutely wonderful year.
When I say that that was the year when I decided not to go on for my PhD and become an English professor, people said, what?
You spent a year at Trinity College?
What was bad about it?
What convinced you not to continue in that direction?
And there was nothing bad about my Trinity College experience.
