There's, even as you talk about bread, there's also the reflexive piece of manna, right?
Thinking about God's provisions
It won't be what Dante wants.
And yet it will still be a sign that God has not abandoned him, that God can go with him even in that en via status, that in transit status.
And I think there's something powerful.
To me, it's just extremely powerful.
We at Redeemer built our core class around the idea of journey, of pilgrimage.
And we start with the Odyssey and we work our way through these various texts.
And we end with Dante in some senses, because to me, this is the great journey.
that is being implied.
And part of the motivation for taking on the pathway is all about the goal, the telos of that journey, right?
And I think Dante may have imagined, and even at the beginning of Paradiso, back in Paradiso one,
he talks about when, just before he gets to the Trasuminar moment, he talks about the fact that, you know, I want to now make my ambition known.
I want to wear the laurel crown as the great poet.
And he's got several references to the Apollo and Daphne story in there.
And the thing about it is those are earthly crowns.
We are encouraged to cast our crown right upon the sea and to allow the true king of the universe to take over.
And so there's this sense, I think, that Dante
In this moment, I think what he wanted his ancestor to tell him was everything's going to be great.
And you're going to be restored.
