Pooping regularly is important.
And I had a patient, I said,
Do you have regular bowel movements?
She said, yeah, I have regular bowel movements.
I said, well, how often do you go?
She goes, once a week.
I'm like, what do you mean?
That's not regular.
She goes, yeah, it's regular for me.
I go every week.
Really, the idea here is that you should probably go at least once, if not two to three times a day.
I don't know, it sounds crazy, but if you look at the studies by Burkett and others from England who studied a lot of the cancer risks, for example, in Africa, they found that if you were
a hunter-gatherer in Africa, your stool weight was about two pounds a day.
If you were an urban dweller, same ethnicity, same genetics, it was about four ounces.
So we want to have a lot of poop.
Just saying, fiber is the way to do that.
And there's lots of different kinds of fiber.
Fermented foods are great.
Keeping your microbiome healthy is really important.
