This is one of the fallacies that sleep walking or sleep talking, you're, you know, stop dreaming, wake up, you're dreaming.

you're waking someone out of the very depths of deep non-REM sleep.

And these different things, sleep walking, sleep talking, sleep eating, sleep associated sex behavior, all of these things are what we call parasomnias.

So these are things that happen around sleep, but they're not quite in sleep.

Because when you have those, you are launched from deep non-REM sleep up to wakefulness, but you don't make it all the way to wakefulness.

And so you act out these very rote, routine, reflexive behaviors.
