It's really important to read the first part of Matthew because you get that genealogy that proves this prophecy is true, that Jesus did. So anytime you hear the phrase according to the scriptures or as the scripture says, if you read that in the New Testament, it's not talking about the New Testament most of the time. It's talking about, because that hadn't been written yet. It's talking about what happened in the Old Testament.
