So we need to take as many stands and pull, as I've said over the course of the last number of years, but in the course of this debate, any levers we can pull to put pressure on Israel.
This organisation did it with the Eurovision.
Yes, the Eurovision went ahead.
Yes, Israel took part, but it was the right thing to do.
This will have consequences.
Ireland could lose six points and could be fined.
But versus 70,000 Gazans killed, including 18,000 children, continued illegal occupations and expansion of settlements in the West Bank, the invasion of Lebanon and the ethnic cleansing that's happening there
I mean, it's a small price to pay.
And what we've seen with the Occupy Territories Bill insofar as it's being moved forward is Ireland started that.
And we're building a small but a broader consensus across Europe.
And we can do the same in football.
Because, Matt, we want to put as much pressure as possible upon Israel to show that their actions in Gaza, in the West Bank, in Lebanon and beyond are intolerable to the international community.
We have very limited levers to pull to demonstrate to Israel that their behaviour is utterly unacceptable and that putting it in the most polite terms is absolutely reprehensible.
and we need to invoke boycotts and sanctions where we can.
We saw one already where Ireland boycotted the Eurovision,
And now with this draw in the Nations League, we have an opportunity to show yet again, and this is majority backing of Irish football fans and the Irish public, that we do not accept Israel into the same tournaments as us, UEFA tournaments.
They shouldn't be taking part whilst they're committing genocide, while they're expanding illegal settlements in the West Bank, and while they continue to push up and carry out ethnic cleansing in Lebanon.
