They figured he was going to be a big part of the offense, but Simpson has stepped up and all across the board, it really has been a team effort.
I know that sounds cliche, but it really has been that.
And they've been remarkable.
And pitching has been the underpinning, again, of this team.
Yeah, and I think he's very close to that.
His numbers have been really good, but his performance has been great as well.
The velocity on his fastball, he's probably got a tick or two.
I think he's averaging somewhere a little over 95, and he was 97 in that neighborhood before.
but he has used the change-up well.
That's been a great pitch, and the slider behind that fastball, the slider has been excellent for him, and he is an even-keeled guy with that fire that propels him to excel, and to have him back has been a big part of solidifying the rotation, and I think of McClanahan, and I go back to
You know, the Stephen Matz, who's on the aisle now, and Martinez as veteran guys to augment McClanahan coming back and being healthy.
And they put together a nice rotation.
Yeah, I think, depending on how it turns out, it could be long-term as well for him.
I think they're confident that he has the kind of stuff.
You know, here's a guy worked out of the bullpen, but he's also a guy who has an extensive assortment of pitches.
He can go six deep with, you know, various pitches, and he's going to go, you know, sweeper and foreseam with a changeup and sinker most of the time.
But he also has a couple other pitches in there, so it could get crowded trying to call a game for a catcher there.
But I think you're going to see those four pitches primarily out of him.
And they were very pleased when they made that deal from Minnesota.
