I think his conviction, his number of convictions is well over 100 anyway.

Some of them for very serious crimes, many of them for less serious, but a series of headline crimes.

He was one of a younger generation of criminals who kind of acted as muscle for Fat Freddy Thompson and the Byrnes really.

Ian Maloney would have been very close to them.

But in latter years he became a friend of the paper in that we used to publish some of his poetry.

Yeah, I mean, the funny thing about him was that he was, like, he was called Mad Dog, obviously, because he had this really feared reputation, both in prison and outside of prison.

And he, not a big guy or anything like that, but he had that sort of tendency to violence.

There was some very serious crimes linked to them.

But I suppose he ultimately served a very long sentence for a burglary at a jewellery store.

I think it was the biggest in the history of the state at that stage, 1.9 million people.
