And they laid all that out to the judge.

Obviously, Brian Grandin's defense had a little bit to say as well in defense of him.

But essentially what they're trying to say was Brian Grandin was essentially had absolute control over an international crime gang, that he was the primary drug trafficking gang.

His gang were the primary drug traffickers into Ireland.

And that if these, so they're linking, this is the first time where we see that they've actually linked him and this ghost phone network to actual importations of drugs that were seized into Ireland.

So they're basically saying that if these seizures had gone ahead and hadn't been busted by the Gardaí, that the gang stood to make four million euro in a six week period.

That's what they're claiming.

Yeah, I suppose what I mean is it's the first time that we've seen them say like this is what these import, like they name specific importations

of drugs and dates that came into the country I think there's one in Spain too so it's the first time where they're saying this is when this drug was seized this is the date and this was what Brian Grandin's alleged role was that he was overseeing things via this ghost network so it's the first time we're seeing actual specific they're basically saying that we hacked this ghost or sorry the ghost network was hacked by other agencies we were given the information and we were able to link

alleged, you know, directing roles that Brian Grandin had over these measures to specific importations of drugs that were seized by Gardaí.

And I guess they go into specific detail about it, but they're trying to basically say that, you know, this was

you know, this was his role and this was why he was so heavily involved in it and why he's basically the director of this crime gang.

Not bad for six weeks work if it had have actually gotten through.

Yeah, but I suppose this is, yeah, so it's interesting in that like, you know, we always, as journalists, we see these guided press releases come in, we see these big seizures and sometimes we hear, oh, it's linked to this gang and that gang.

But this is the first time where it's alleged that these specific drug busts

you know, they're claiming that they're able to link Grandin and these messages to real-time events.

So true, like the messages, true CCTV footage, true Garda surveillance and mobile phone analysis.

And some of the kind of details were interesting about how Spanish police, they seized 110 kilograms of cocaine, which they valued at nearly 8 million euro in a warehouse.

And they basically said that there was an Irish guy that he was acting as kind of the logistics manager there and that they're basically claiming that Grandin was

And managing this guy and that he instructed him to not go to a facility within minutes of a seizure.
