And so the business, that side of sort of what led to discretion essentially grew out of that.
So you, you, uh, I started to realize, and I was talking to these, um, uh, these PE guys and we do things like, you know, hang on the bar after we've done the management meetings.
And they were saying like, Hey man, like if you, you know, if you, we pay for deal flow.
And I was like, what do you, what do you mean you pay for deal flow?
What does that mean?
And he says, well, if you introduce us to a company and we buy it, we'll give you a percentage of the purchase price.
And I was like,
holy shit, yes, okay, I can do that.
Like an email in order for a big payday, that's fine.
So I did a couple of buy-side deals with some of the private equity funds, mostly on the e-commerce side.
And then as I was doing that, by this time, I saw the YC network had grown enormously because there's now so many more companies in that network.
And also like the, so my other big network is in and around MicroConf.
And people just started reaching out and saying, hey, I know you sort of straddled this private equity venture world.
We have an offer.
This is a good offer.
What do you think?
And I would just give them my advice.
I think, no, this is a terrible offer or this seems a reasonable offer or I don't know.
It really depends.
And so that's how that whole thing started.
