I'd never want to go through anything like it again.
And when I went back to the doctor, he gave me an admission date.
And I went to the Rutland Centre.
for me but I will be honest I'm going to tell you now four days into my treatment in the Rutland Centre I kind of thought no no this is not for me I need to get out of here I need to go home and so I spoke to a therapist there that evening and she asked me just to leave it for tomorrow morning and see how I felt and I remember waking up that Wednesday morning in there and looking around and thinking I want to go home
So I waited for my own therapist to come in and I went down and I knocked the door in the office and I just said, listen, I want to go home.
And they were like, no, no, hang on Elaine now, just have a cigarette.
And then the male therapist, Michael, his name was, he came out to me and he just said, can I have a word with you?
So I went inside to the office with him and he said, I've been talking to your mother and your husband and they don't want you to leave.
But he said, Elaine, you're a grown woman, he said, and I can't stop you from leaving.
But then he said, he said, look, and this was a turning point in treatment for me.
He said, so when you were giving birth to your kids and he said you were in the height of pain, what did you do?
And I said, well, I gave birth, obviously.
So he said he looked at me in my eyes and he said, Elaine, I can see that you're in a ball of pain.
He said, if you just do this treatment and stay here for the five weeks, he said, I promise you, you'll have your life at the end of it.
And from that minute, I was in the treatment centre and that's what I did.
I stayed there for the five weeks and that house saved my life, David.
It actually saved my life.
I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the treatment centre.
And that's the God's honest truth.
David, I'm good, thank God.
