If someone has flashing in their past, I'd expect there to be problems in their future.
It may lead to domestic abuse, coercive control, stalking or sexual violence.
Research shows that over four years, more than 200 people convicted of rape actually had prior indecent exposure charges, and eight of which had even gone on to commit murder.
Wayne Cousins, from what we know,
had allegedly committed indecent exposure and gotten away with it on at least two separate occasions, one of which was towards a child.
In fact, police now believe that he could well be responsible for at least eight
separate counts of indecent exposure over the years, but it could be upwards of 17.
This man was a ticking time bomb and he was about to explode in just a few days after his last alleged offence on the night where he saw Sarah Everard walking home in Clapham.
Six days after Sarah had vanished from the streets, it was the evening of March 9th, 2021.
A full-scale search and rescue operation had revealed practically nothing about her whereabouts or her current safety status.
They didn't know if she was still alive and out there somewhere or where she could be if she was.
All they knew right now was that the last person she had been seen with was Wayne Cousins,
caught on various car cameras.
And the last clip of them both even shows that the front door of his car was wide open, suggesting that Sarah had gotten into the vehicle with this man.
By this point, police had actually looked into Wayne and discovered that he was one of the top suspects in that indecent exposure case from the McDonald's just three days before Sarah went missing.
If everything was adding up correctly, this meant that she had gotten into a car with a sex offender.
So immediately police go down to his house and they make an arrest on suspicion of kidnap and on suspicion of indecent exposure from three days prior.
On the day of his arrest, Wayne had just been at home doing nothing.
He'd called off from work claiming that he was ill with stress.
And now he's a suspect in the country's biggest current case.
