The danger we face just as women go in about our lives is always apparent to us.
We know not to play music too loud in our headphones while we're walking alone so that we can stay alert to anyone approaching us.
We frequently look over our shoulder to check who's around.
We do an instinctual threat analysis on any man we see.
It's sad, but we've been scared into living this way.
And for many women, that fear continues even once they walk through their front door.
a place that should feel safe could actually hold the biggest threat to them in the form of domestic violence or domestic abuse in general.
And that's why I want to take a moment to platform a crucial UK charity named Solace, who for over 50 years now have been supporting women and children in London escaping violence and abuse.
And it's not only domestic abuse survivors that they help, it's those facing gender-based violence, victims of human trafficking or rape, exploitation.
Solace helps so many people, mainly women and children, to escape and then to heal.
On their website, you can find so many different forms of support, from emergency accommodation to therapy,
to a dedicated number to call just for advice.
And if you need to communicate in a different language, they can offer face-to-face support in that language.
All you have to do is ask.
If you're in London, please do take a look at their website and familiarise yourself.
If not for yourself, then maybe for a friend or someone that you haven't met yet.
You never know when you might need their services or when you might need to tell someone about their services.
So the link to their website will be in today's description along with our usual link tree full of even more resources if you need them.
And for anyone who does need solace, you have my full support in doing that.
Please do look after yourself.
