You know, so if there are big ice sweeps in South Florida, like what happens when you have four U.S.
citizen kids and you might get deported, your husband might get deported?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it's a huge, like a genuine concern for the residents.
I mean, there's kind of the what does this mean for me to not have staff present?
The employer is hiring replacements, has been really proactive about like what to do.
But, you know, they're also just really sad to lose people who are part of their community.
You know, the staff are there where they're
they live, right?
Taking care of them in really challenging times of their life, right?
So I spoke to one resident, Murray Rubin, who is 92.
Yeah, I mean, more competition for labor.
There's one estimate saying that just with Haitians losing TPS, you're losing around 13,000 nursing assistants and 8,000 caregivers from that workforce in the U.S.
And I mean, 30% of the overall direct care workforce are foreign born, right?
Yeah.
In the United States, it's lots of nurses and aides.
So, you know, there's already a shortage.
And at Sinai Residences, you know, they were raising pay for the positions that they were anticipating losing.
