And so to sit...
at the feet of trans athletes and say, tell me, what does it feel like to be you?
What does it feel like to be in your body?
What does it feel like to be in your sport?
What came up over and over again as one of the refrains in the interviews is that these trans athletes, just when they tell us who they are, they just want us to believe them.
It's just so simple.
And that's how I used to teach sexuality and dating when I taught high school.
I got to teach sex.
That was one of the things I got to teach.
It was the best.
Of, like, let people tell you who they are, you know?
And if a label sets you free, then use it.

Tell us their experience of the world and feel listened to, feel heard, feel believed.
That's so important.
And this is where the story comes in.
So in college, as a college gymnast, I had chronic hip pain my junior year.
And it kind of was that sneaky pain.
