And that was anyone like, you know, you could push past me in the street.
I was losing my shit.
You know, it's just like, that's how I was raised to be like tough and to not let people take advantage.
And as soon as you get into a professional workplace, that is not good.
something that works, that is not conducive to me getting ahead.
So I was like, all right, all of this stuff that I've got doesn't serve me.
It's not working to get me where I need to be.
And for me, it was really that selfish in the beginning.
I was like, I have to get rid of some of these things I have because they're not working to get me where I want to go.
And as soon as I made that connection, that actually it was within my control,
that I was the one that was creating these stories in my head.
I learned to go inside and I learned to get close to myself.
And it was so interesting because back then we didn't talk about that meditation or mindfulness in that way.
It was like, take a deep breath, count to 10.
and go inside and I would like have a conversation with myself and I was like, this isn't who I am.
I'm actually not that angry.
I just don't know the other ways to behave.
And so emotional hygiene for me has always been about how close can I get to myself and how can I understand what is serving me and what I really want.
And that's why the book actually starts in this place of like holding a vision for yourself.
And I do not mean manifestation and vision boards.
