And so they now start changing the teaching.
And now they insist on some kind of orthodoxy.
To be a member of our group, you have to believe A, B, C, D, and E. And if you're not believing these, you can't be one of us anymore.
And so now you have to leave the system to insist on orthodoxy.
Now, if they become powerful enough, they're now going to kind of make war on others outside who have different belief systems.
So now you have some kind of crusades against people who don't believe what I believe.
And then ultimately then you have inquisitions where you turn on your own, your own people.
And now if they're out of step in any way, you crucify them or you kill them or you torture them.
And so there's the inquisition.
So it goes right through these stages.
Now, at some stage, the system begins, somebody wakes up, some new prophet wakes up and says, guys, this is not what the teaching was about.
We totally missed it about.
And so St.
Francis comes in the 1200s, and he's looking at, you know, 900 years at that stage of a politicized, Romanized kind of system that had been overlaid on the Jesus movement, beginning with Constantine, 325, the Council of Nicaea.
And Francis says to St.
This is not what the Master was about.
Here's what he was about.
And he talks about brother's son and sister moon and kind of love for all creatures, you know, and even has an audience with the Pope.
And he sets up a whole new organization that's going to demonstrate what it looks like when you understand the teaching of the Master.
And he founds the Franciscans.
