I certainly thought that I could.
I think what the point you're making is there are certain situations in which confidence and the presentation of power attracts things that actually make you powerful.
But there's also other situations where if you don't have the hard leverage that you need, then you can't get any further because the other person has leverage over you.
That makes perfect sense to me.
