Because how this was supposed to happen was, and Jim Rutherford said this particularly and specifically in his media veil on Friday, which was, I was only supposed to be here for two years.
So now he's sitting back saying, I'm going to hire the next guy.
And he's not even saying publicly that he's going to leave.
He's saying, I'm going to think about it.
And he's saying publicly, no, no, really the next guy, he's making all the decisions.
I'm just here for counsel.
And I'm here to have anyone ask me any question at any point in time.
I think that's ludicrous.
Who would want after the way that this has played out with Patrick Alvin being GM and name only aside from it being one of 32 jobs in which you get to call yourself general manager, who would want to come in under those uncertain pretenses?
Doesn't make any sense to me.
And then to throw in on top of it, the same person that has plunged your organization into further chaos is now choosing the successor.
You can't make a decision on your own as to who the next successful leader of your hockey operations department is.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
And I'll just pass along one thing that I did here today, as they are expected to begin this process, is that the sense emanating from people around the league is that the Canucks are seeking someone who has prior GM experience before.
This is unlikely, at least at this point in time, to be someone who hasn't had the job before.
I'll say that's been part of their saving grace.
