Ended better than it started.
Yeah, it did. Yeah, yeah. The first game was a bit of a, you know, a little bit. Not a high bar. No, I mean. No. Kings hockey sucks. Wow. Kings hockey is terrible. Don't we know. That's yesterday.
Oh, I mean. Okay.

Chapter 3: What criticisms did Frank have regarding Jim Rutherford's handling of the Canucks?
The Hurricanes. Saturday to Sunday. Like the end of Sunday was spectacular.
The end of Sunday was great. Hurricane Sens game was not a. It started hot. Yeah. It started all right. That one's all right. The Wild just made quick work for the Stars. Yeah.
There was a lot of excitement going into that one. You're like, all right, here we go.
The Flyers-Penguins game. Yeah. But the Kings know how to suck the life out of every single hockey game they play.
Boy, that wasn't great. Can't stand Kings hockey. Please make this a short series. And then the final three really took you home.
Yes, they did.
And even the Bruins. I had the Bruins-Sabres games kind of on the side. And then you're like, oh, like eventually that'll get going, right? And then once it got going. The third was unreal. Oh boy, was that place incredible.
Yeah, the third was unreal. A lot of fun watching playoff hockey. Sens and Canes, game two is about to get going. And shout out to the Mammoth.

Chapter 4: Why is there rising pressure on the Dallas team?
Yeah, the middle of the game. I would say that was the most feisty game. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It certainly had lots of emotions, especially as the game kind of wore on. The third was pretty lively as well. It was a fun game. I really enjoyed watching the playoff hockey and we'll get into it a bit more as a show goes on. Obviously, we are going to talk a lot of Canucks.
It is Canucks Central and obviously some big decisions are looming for the organization. We'll get into that a lot more coming up at 430. We'll check. with Frank Ceravalli as well about the latest around the Canucks and their ongoing GM search. But nothing has been named yet. It's getting going in earnest here this week. So we'll see where that all lands.
But it's bittersweet watching the playoffs because you think back to when the Canucks were in the playoffs a couple years ago. But man, do you get geeked up. Honestly, I had so much fun just watching hockey over the course of the weekend. I didn't get a chance to watch all the games live. Like the Bruins game, I kind of caught up. But it was journey, man. That was a lot of fun.
Also, it should always serve as a reminder of what the speed looks like. Yeah, it's different, man. It's a big difference. That's why when we have these games, we're like, yeah, the Kinect's played okay. It's like, yeah, okay for a game in February, but let's compare it to the standard. What would someone have in a bar? Yeah.
Chapter 5: What should the Canucks prioritize in their GM search?
The bar is what this looks like.
Yeah, absolutely. And actually, you know, some higher scores than I was expecting, especially yesterday. But let's welcome in our next guest on the Able Auctions hotline. It is Frank Cervalli, NHL insider and host of Frankly Hockey on Victory+. What's going on, Frank? Did you enjoy watching playoff hockey over the weekend?
I did. You're right. It's such a reminder of how different this sport is from,
October to April let alone from February to April and not only that but just a reminder yet again of how I truly believe the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is it's the best playoffs in sports like I'd put it up there against March Madness against anything yep this notion that for two weeks you've got wall-to-wall coverage and especially on the weekend spaced out like
You're out here on the East Coast. You could sit on your couch and watch games from 3 p.m. till midnight without having to miss any action.
That was basically my Sunday. I barely moved.
I had things to do. It was a beautiful day here in Vancouver. And I was like, no, I'm not moving. It's embarrassing when you look at your... your Apple watch. And it's like, you're like, you're trying to set the new record for fewest steps in one day. Yeah. It's like 600 steps. Yeah.
I guess it's that far to the fridge.
Can you keep the steps under a thousand for the day?

Chapter 6: How does Mike Gillis fit into the potential future of the Maple Leafs?
But in terms of what we saw from Buffalo, I thought that was fantastic, the scene in Buffalo. And one thing I keep thinking about with that series, too, and we'll get into some of the bigger picture stuff with the Canucks and all fans are waiting on pins and needles. What's next when it comes to the management search here in Vancouver and what other things might be happening?
But I just kept thinking about that Sabres-Bruins game. And I just wonder if... the way the Sabres came back and won in the third period, if that's going to really accelerate their push here in the playoffs, anytime a team's missed for a long time and things don't go your way, it's easy to, you know, kind of get into that negative mindset.
And I think if they would have lost that game, there would have been a little bit of doubt, but the matter in which they won the game, I think that could be really big for the Sabres.
Yeah, I agree. I think, um, I mean, in a lot of ways, the game kind of mirrored their season. Like for a chunk of it, they looked dead in the water. And I mean, even like halfway through the third period, you're like, man, Boston is doing such a good job of clogging everything up and not giving a lot of space.
And then the oil, the, the, not the Oilers, the Sabres, particularly page Thompson took the bull by the horns and the, I mean, he went to all the gritty, dirty areas to score. So I think having that 5,400-day wait, like I actually did the math yesterday. I was like, I can't believe it's been that long.
But having that be worthwhile to put an exclamation point, like you were down two goals in the back half of the third period and you won in regulation with enough time for an empty netter. I mean, it was about as good of an eight minutes as you could have in Buffalo to make it all feel worth it.
So what was the biggest warning shot to you so far through two days? Is it just the Habs and Lightning? Or is there another one that you're looking at and saying, hey, that team maybe should be worried? Or maybe is it Dallas?
I think Dallas is certainly going to be a really interesting response tonight. I think we're going to tell a lot about them and their season and the series tonight. Have they been in spots where they've lost the first two games and won the series? Yes. Do I think they'll be able to do that against this Minnesota team that's really difficult to play against because of their size and heaviness?
I don't. And so I think they're already facing, like, it's a it's getting late early kind of thing here that Dallas is in some dire straits tonight against the Wilds.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of the Canucks' management decisions?
If they lose, that's a tough spot to be in, especially with that series shifting to mini. And, you know, I thought the way the Montreal Canadiens found a way to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning last night. I wonder if Montreal can generate more offense outside of the power play. But man, does that power play look deadly with Slavkoski and Caulfield setting everybody up?
It does, and I also think what yesterday was a reminder of, yes, the power play is good. Yes, Montreal has a knack for the moment, and they've oozed this late-game drama and heroics all season long. But another reminder for me that the Canadians aren't just Cole Caulfield and Lane Hudson and these polite, high-skilled players.
Josh Anderson was a human meat missile yesterday, and they still have Brendan Gallagher sitting out as a healthy scratch with some sandpaper if he needs to draw in. They've got some toughness, and that Evans line is no joke to play against. I think they're going to set up and stack up quite well.
I think their defensemen can also handle the brunt of what teams like the Lightning can throw at them. So I've had the Montreal Canadiens winning this series from Jump Street. It didn't make any sense to me that the Tampa Bay Lightning were an implied favorite of 70%. I'm not saying that they won't win the series.
I'm just saying I think this was not much more than a 52-51 coin flip in either direction.
And getting important contributions from Carrier and then Mike Matheson's not a young player. I know Gooley's young, but he's not like 21, 22. He's 24 years old.
He's in the prime of his career.
Yeah, exactly. So there's some reasonable depth to the team outside of just like the power five guys that often get brought up.
I think so. And I think they're a force to be reckoned with. I think they've got something to their... setup, their makeup, they've got like a mojo to their team that I think means something.

Chapter 8: What insights were shared about the future of the Vancouver Canucks?
I wanted to get your thoughts on everything that transpired on Friday. Patrick Alvin gets let go. Jim Rutherford takes...
to the podium and describes his reasonings for it and in very much Jim Rutherford fashion and a lot of that leads even more questions on the table but ultimately they moved on from Alvin and it almost seemed like or I wouldn't say almost seemed like he essentially confirmed that Rutherford is not long for the job himself he might be transitioning to something else as soon as July 1st comes and goes and we get past the draft here
What was your overall takeaway from the way Rutherford handled business and what could be next here in Vancouver?
Well, I'll handle the first part first, which is I thought the way that the messaging and how Patrick Alveen was handled on the way out was really distasteful and devoid of leadership. To sit here and try and present an alternate and distorted reality that Patrick Alveen had run and say of this team is crazy. And it's just not how things have happened over the last four years.
Jim Rutherford was the president of hockey operations, but any time that the mood seemed to move him, anything that was on Patrick Albine's plate was taken off of it and handled by Jim Rutherford directly. It was hot and cold. It was binary. It was on or off. And it was you're either... doing this or doing that, get out there and talk to the media. It was all over the place.
And whether he started with a trade and had it taken off of his plate, or whether he began a negotiation and then had Jim Rutherford take it over, or some things were just handled directly from Jim Rutherford from the start, I think to present it as we didn't like the decision-making that Patrick Alveen had is really disappointing. And I think he carved his reputation into
and threw some red meat and a body on the tarmac to try and provide an explanation for this season and how it all went wrong. Now, the second part of that is, let me ask you, why is Jim Rutherford still here? If he's actually thinking about eventually moving in a different direction or doing something different, why aren't the Canucks cleaning house now?
What on earth could you point to in the last four years of him running this team as a reason for him to stay? I can't think of one. And I think Jim Rutherford is a wonderful Hall of Fame executive, but I think his best days are behind him. And I think he should be graded and judged solely based on the work that's done and has been done with the Vancouver Canucks.
Not what happened in Pittsburgh, not what happened in Carolina. And just look at this team that's been chasing its tail and reactionary for each of the last four years.
