I've got that access and the more I've developed it.

These parts of us are so extreme because they're just trying to protect us. They're working really, really, really hard to keep us feeling safe. And when we can see them through that lens, we can feel compassion for them.

And to just open your heart to these extreme patterns and behaviors and see them as protection mechanisms that are just trying to keep you from really tough stuff that you don't want to have to face.
