And I was so impressed by that because when you come in as a manager, you kind of want to lay the law down.
But he didn't.
He kind of let that squad breathe.
He recognised that they had the quality, started the season.
And it was difficult for the Liverpool supporters.

And Liverpool, even though they were chasing the equaliser, slow, methodical build-up play, let's control the thing.
And you're thinking, these Liverpool fans are not used to that.
They're heavy metal.
That's what they want.
They want high intensity, especially at Anfield.
So I was thinking, no, he's done brilliant to win the Premier League and get all the applause.
It's quite rightly so.
Then they make all those signings and everyone's kind of saying, listen, they're going to romp the league.
I never felt that.
I felt it would take too long in terms of integrating those players.
But the biggest concern for me, and I think certainly
it was a sense you got from the Liverpool fans is that where was this team going?
What was it trying to be in terms of the style on the slot?
And I'd worked in the Eredivisie about three or four years ago and every team plays that way, that slow, methodical build-up.
