So much has been said about his leadership qualities, which is great and stuff like that, and his experience.
But experience is so overrated.
Because if it wasn't, get Robbie Keane back to score the goals or get Paul McGrath back at centre-back.
Experience is great, but you've got to be in isolation, contribute in a way to affect the team.
And he does that.
He still does it.
That just shows you, if you get to play for Ireland at his age, it's because you're a brilliant professional.
But also, ultimately, it's because there's no one coming up
on your shoulder to take your place.
There's no production line as such.
I think he was, he's been brilliant.
I think in terms of how well he played, really good.
But who knows?
I mean, how can you genuinely see this continuing if you're not playing club football?
I don't know where he is.
I know he's been an incredible servant for Ireland and, and,
And how the lads wax lyrical about him as well.
Because a lot of the times you can get those lads who clap the crowd afterwards and become the crowd favourite.
But you never kid on your own teammates.
You never do.
