Steve Jordans is a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, Scarborough.
When we come back, we'll continue our conversation.
You know, after tragedies like this, the conversation can follow a familiar script.
Chats about mental health or gun control.
But Steve and I are going to dig deeper into the possible cause of these shootings and how to prevent them.
Feeling isolated from one's community can play a major role here, and we'll discuss that in a moment.
We are continuing our conversation here about the recent school shooting in British Columbia yesterday in the remote town of Tumbler Ridge.
Nine people killed, two seriously injured, another 25 injured as well.
When these things happen, and they do happen a lot in the U.S., it provides a sort of familiar script for discussion.
The conversation in the media, on podcasts and social media, politicians do it as well, shifts to mental health.
And gun control and often the possible cause of these shootings.
And that's what we're going to explore here with Steve Jordans, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
Steve, welcome to the show.
Yeah, thank you.
Great to be with you again, David.
Thank you.
I think one that is also important to have is about the possible cause of these things.
Do you have thoughts around that?
Do you want to start that discussion?
Is isolation and social exclusion a major thread here amongst those who commit heinous acts like this?
