That is the โ yes, they can make a little more money doing this and all of that stuff, but the major motivating factor was the SEC has expanded, the Big Ten has expanded, and they need more tables in the restaurant, the restaurant being the NCAA tournament.
It adds to the KU roster the most talented incoming freshman in college basketball.
And it means that now, you know, there's five spots on the court and you're going to have a five-star freshman at two of them.
That's a good place to start the conversation.
The issue, of course, is that not all number one prospects are the same.
So two years ago, Duke had the number one prospect.
This past year, Duke had the number one prospect.
That was Cameron Boozer, or at least the best player, the best freshman in college basketball.
And now Tyron Stokes is expected to be that.
But nobody is out there claiming that Stokes is the same as Cooper Flagg or the same as Cameron Boozer or the same as A.J.
He is of similar talent, but there's a lot of red flags there that have given other programs caution.
If I were Kansas, if I were Bill Self, I would have gone all in on this.
I think given where you were in the calendar, you needed to get this done badly.
But I can tell you plainly, and I do not say this with any emotion.
I'm not trying to pile on anybody or anything.
I'm just speaking to you plainly.
I can tell you there are other programs.
