I know a little bit about it. I have a Hall Effect stick. I bought an 8-bit dough Hall Effect stick recently, and part of the reason why I got one is, like, Hall Effect, it's very buzzy right now. It's so hot right now, Hall Effect. Everyone's talking about Hall Effect. So, yeah, I should try it out and see what the deal is. The thing with Hall Effect, as far as I can tell, is it's not...
that you're going to pick it up immediately and go, oh, this is so much more responsive. It's that they're much less likely to shit the bed a year from now, which has been a problem with Joy-Cons. It's been a problem with PlayStation controllers. Yeah, even the DualSense. The DualSense has got the drift.

But particularly on the Joy-Con side, Nintendo had to implement a system for you to have them replaced and fixed, and it was a problem. So obviously, we don't know yet what...

proprietary or whatever solution nintendo have come up with for the new ones but they obviously know it's something that they don't want they don't want this to happen again right and so time will tell and you won't know right away if there if there are issues with these sticks these are stories they're going to be hearing about you know three months six months a year from now right because again it's not going to be an instant thing so i you know i'd be interested to know why they didn't choose it feels like

like I said, Hall Effect is so buzzy for them to be able to like, oh, and Hall Effect sticks. Like a lot of people that don't necessarily know what that is just go like, oh, I've heard of that. Those are good, right? Like it's just another selling point, but I can either, it's too expensive.

I don't know how much, I mean, the 8-bit dough controller I got had Hall Effect sticks wasn't any more expensive than a regular controller. So I don't necessarily think they're more expensive. Um, But Nintendo, you know, Nintendo going to Nintendo. That's the thing, it's the weird Nintendo decisions. We talk about this all the time.

It may well be that the solution they've come up with is better than the Hall Effect, or as good as. We don't know yet. We're going to take a minute. All we know right now is that, hey, Hall Effect sticks are having a moment, right? It's a buzzy term.

Even if you don't understand necessarily what it is, you just know that they're good, and people like them, and they have advantages over other sticks in terms of durability over the long term. which is an issue for Switch. So a lot of people might have said, hmm, durability solution. Nintendo had a durability problem. Why not bring those two things together?

And they've chosen not to do that as they often choose not to do many things that would seem to make common sense to the rest of us. We'll find out whether or not it was a good or bad decision in time.

The Joy-Cons were notorious for stick drift. Also on DualSense, but much more noticeable on the Joy-Cons.

I don't know if this is going to be an issue, but if you think about a DualSense controller or an Xbox Series controller and then compare it to a Joy-Con, Joy-Con is tiny, right? The actual controller unit that snaps off is very, very small, right?
