California is joining the WHO's Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network.

Group members collaborate to detect and respond quickly to infectious disease outbreaks and public health emergencies.

California joins more than 300 governments, labs and academic institutions who are part of the network.

During a recent trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, California Governor Gavin Newsom met with the WHO Director General to talk about the collaboration.

California is the first and currently the only state to join part of the WHO.
