I mean, I can't look into what would have happened, what might have happened, but he was a prisoner and he was shot trying to escape.
2008 in november 2008 so we started in 2006 so it was it was just getting on for two years before we found one of the remains we've done a lot of work other than that one yeah in the intermediate period of course yeah and so you said that like your aim was to have a more proactive approach oh absolutely yeah yeah so when you start showing success and those bodies being recovered
I think it was a gradual process.
The INLA had murdered Seamus Ruddy in Rouen, in France.
And they were really on board from the earliest stages as well.
They were absolutely committed to us recovering Seamus's remains.
But again, this issue of, well, whereabouts was it?
And I think, you know, people's perceptions change over the years.
People's memories play tricks on them.
And I think we're all guilty of this, you know.
I mean, I can go back to Saddleworth Moor now from...
my time searching in in 1986 87 and think where on earth were we it's that's just the way it is so you know i i think i think going back and finding the exact spot is always going to be difficult and we have never we've never encountered anybody intentionally trying to deceive us which is remarkable really the information we've been passed albeit was wrong
It has clearly been well-intentioned.
And we thought we'd get a lot of bogus, intentionally misleading information.
And we never have, which is remarkable and a tribute to the guys who are helping over the years or have helped over the years, you know.
Absolutely, yeah.
This is about helping the families.
