in this season on lap 40 Vettel got a run on Webber down the back straight got alongside and then just before the braking zone the Red Bull drivers committed the cardinal sin and collided this high speed contact put Vettel out on the spot his spinning car narrowly avoids Webber who's running through the uh the runoff as well I've always wondered if Vettel could see Webber coming and kind of went I'll just go this way and see if I can wipe him out
as well.
But Webber was able to continue.
He had to pit for repairs.
So the race was handed to the McLaren drivers who'd been sat just behind and got to see all of this.
Ed, there's loads of fallout to do here.
We're going to go through it in very granular, typical Bring Back V10s
But first, let's just analyse the collision.
What do you think happened here?
And was one driver more at fault than the other?
So what did everyone say about it then?
Vettel said it was clear I was on the inside.
I was ahead.
I'm just going to focus on the breaking point.
Webber said.
we were side by side and then it looks like Vettel turned pretty quickly to the right and we made contact and Mark added that he felt reasonably comfortable with his role in what happened he said he stayed tight to Vettel to keep him on the dirty side of the track for the braking zone as he didn't want to give up the lead and he said that while it might have felt to Vettel like Webber had driven into him Webber was pretty confident that Vettel was the one who drifted across and as you've said there Ed I think the TV pictures which are nicely head on which is always helpful are
I think back that up.
Yes.
Team boss Christian Horner said that the drivers were always asked to give each other room in battle.
But in this situation, neither driver did that, which handed a 1-2 to McLaren.
