It seems like you've got a talent for making friends.
I do now.
Not so much when I was younger.
I was a bit harder to connect with when I was younger.
Yeah, I think I've developed that skill.
I had to.
Yeah, I had to develop that skill and I enjoy it now.
I've nearly practically forgotten everything I learned at university and school but, yeah, I'm a real people person now.
I can get on with most people and, yeah, I enjoy having that skill.
Yeah, there were all kinds of characters at the Queanbeyan Bolo and it was a good place to just go sit and be and have a beer and feel comfortable and warm for a while and just have that companionship.
But also there were just some people there who were kind of wonderful.
in their unique ways.
Like, when I first got there, I said to a fellow, I kind of thought it was a bit of a downhill place there for a while, but then I just kept meeting these colourful characters.
I met a fellow there called Bill...
And he joined the Royal Navy in Britain when he was 15 years old and he started telling me his stories and I thought, oh, I think this guy is pulling my leg a bit.
But I went to his 80th birthday and I met all his friends who were called...
Darvill and the Gurkha and all this kind of thing.
Well, I was always like a lower division squash player.
But even at the lowest divisions, a good competition squash player is always going to be pretty tough to handle for just a social squash player, which I'd been previously.
So, yeah, I got some dreadful hidings for a while.
