That was the complete difference.
I think if Rangers had seen that and decided, right, okay, he didn't have the greatest season or he only scored eight goals, his stats don't match up
But he was playing in a different role.
He was coming deeper.
He was playing as probably a team player.
Laurence Shanklin is a team player, but he's the player in the box that you want.
The guy that gets you the important goal.
The guy that gets you the valuable three points.
He's not a guy that you want at the halfway line and linking up with the midfield players.
Of course he can do that.
He's a very, very clever player.
But me personally, I want Shanklin in round about that box, creating for him.
And that's where he comes alive.
And that's why Derek McInnes got the best out of him.
Because Derek knew, I know where this guy has to play.
And he played him there.
And Shanklin just rose to the challenge.

the players that Rangers go for there's talk of Dan Neal who I think is now a free agent after leaving Sunderland he's I think he captained them in their championship season when they went up listen he's used that word leaders and that's what he wants in because let's face it if he doesn't get this right he's under severe pressure he doesn't go off to a good start
