Chapter 1: What is the breaking news about Lawrence Shankland's transfer?
0141 951 1025 it's time to talk football it's Clyde One Super Scoreboard
Good evening and welcome to Clyde One Super Scoreboard. Lauren Shankland has completed his move to Rangers from Hearts in the last few minutes. He signs on an initial two-year deal with the option of a third and St Mirren secure Premiership safety as Partick Thistle stay in the Championship. I'm Andrew McLean. Joining me in the studio is Gordon DL.
Yeah, all the domestic football taken care of after last night. Congratulations to St Mirren, first and foremost. Unlucky for Partick Thistle. What a season it's been for Mark Wilson and them.
Chapter 2: What impact does Shankland's signing have on Rangers fans?
And then we look forward to the World Cup coming up, but all the headlines tonight's got to be Lon Shanklin. going to Rangers. He was absolutely brilliant for Hearts in his years gone by. He's now a Rangers player and the Rangers fans must be excited because they're signing a proven goal scorer who's added so much to his game.
And that shows exactly why we need these summer shows, Gordon Dale, because it is the first one-hour show of the summer. Of course, we do that during the summer. We keep them going. We'll be doing it either side of the World Cup. First summer show, first one-hour show, and as soon as we start it, big news. Warren Shanklin signs for Rangers right as we kick things off.
Chapter 3: How does Shankland's previous performance with Hearts influence expectations?
Yeah, and I've got a funny feeling this season, Andrew, because of what happened last year with the big two, Celtic and Rangers, that we will get plenty of excitement going forward. We've still to find out who's got to be the Celtic manager. There'll be a lot of coming and goings in both teams. Of course there will be. Who will replace Lorne Shanklin at hearts?
Because that would be a big, big blow for Derek McInnes there, especially after the season they've had. So the excitement and the drama has not finished yet. So it's going to be a really exciting close season.
What about that for some breaking news as well? I've just seen that when I've opened up Twitter.
Chapter 4: What are the potential implications of Shankland's captaincy at Rangers?
Ross County confirming the signing of Brian Graham, who's been sitting in this studio all season. He spent some time in this studio with you and he loved it so much that he's gone pretty much as far away as he possibly can to go and sign for the next year.
Yeah, that's incredible. Has Brian not played there before? He has, yeah. Yeah, I'm sure he has. In fact, I'd done the show with him on Saturday at Hampden Cup Final. We sat before we went on air, had a cup of tea, we were talking about the summer, we were talking about holidays, and I thought I was a close friend, but he never even mentioned that to me.
I'll tell you what, I think he might be on the show tomorrow night, according to a message I've just got. So it might be the longest commute anyone has ever had into the Clyde One Super Scoreboard studio.
Chapter 5: How did St Mirren secure their Premiership status?
But if he is, then we'll get the latest from Brian Graham on that. So 01419511025 on the phones. That breaking news in the last five minutes that Lauren Shankland is officially a Rangers player. He has completed that move from heart. So I think the official line from both clubs is that it is undisclosed success.
and he will officially join once the transfer window opens although he's been pictured with that Rangers shirt and he will of course join up with the Scotland squad ahead of the World Cup the understanding is that it was a break clause in his contract which means that Rangers have got him free of charge which is one thing that I don't think anyone saw coming this summer
Listen, free of charge, that's one of the best bits of business that Rangers will do in a long, long time. I know that, funny you should say that, you know, with him coming there, people are now expecting, and I've heard other pundits and ex-players coming out already and saying, he's Captain Matero.
I'm finding that a little bit strange and you can argue in the fact well how can you find it strange he was captain at the Harts but he was such an important player for Harts and I think he will be with Rangers but I think Rangers will shine I think it's too early for him to be Rangers captain I do you know something
I don't think it would bother him but I think he'll come there and especially when you're a goal scorer especially when you're centre forward I would take all the pressure off the captaincy away from him it'll depend who Rangers bring in they'll probably try and bring in more leaders as well they'll spend money

Chapter 6: What are the reactions from fans regarding Shankland's move?
I would just let him go and enjoy his football, concentrate on what he does, and that is put the ball in the back of the net. And forget about the responsibility of, oh, you're a captain as well. I know he was the captain at Hearts, but the captain at Hearts is completely different from... going from Hearts to Rangers.
Rangers fans, let us know what you think of that move. Are you delighted that it's now official that he has been pictured holding that Rangers shirt with Shanklin number seven on the back? And what about you Hearts fans? How gutted are you to lose your captain, your talisman, and how hard will he be to replace? 01419511025. We're of course going to reflect.
Chapter 7: What are the future signing strategies for Rangers?
on that playoff final between St Mirren and Partick Thistle last night why don't we do that first then shall we because that was huge last night St Mirren staying up Partick Thistle staying in the championship Tom is a St Mirren fan in Paisley Tom how happy are you or how relieved are you after last night very delighted Andrew and sorry good evening Andrew good evening Gordon just a very happy man at the moment
Yeah, how did you feel going into those playoff games, Tom? Were you concerned? Did you think that, you know, it might be the year that you were going to go down?
I had a wee bit of faith over fear last night. But the most important thing is we got there through determination. And, you know, the boy, Michael, he's a fantastic guy. As I say, I'm so happy for the club. I think, yeah, those are suspected, Patrick. Great football team, absolutely fantastic.
Chapter 8: How does the discussion reflect on the upcoming World Cup and player performances?
But we were a bit stronger then. at the end of the night and we got there through a great goal by Marcus Fraser I didn't feel any fear we were going to get relegated
Yeah we'll start with the St Mirren perspective on things because it's been such a strange season for St Mirren because as Craig McLeish said the players went down in history they became legends because of their League Cup win earlier on in the season then all of a sudden find themselves scrapping against relegation 90 minutes away from being a championship team he was saying that that could potentially tarnish the legendary status that they got earlier on in the season but the fact that they've managed to stay up they'll be a premiership team again next season and they've got themselves a League Cup
I think just a bit of relief from the players and from some of the supporters.
Well, you've seen that after the final whistle, how the players celebrated. You thought they'd won the Scottish Cup as well. And rightly so, because, you know, getting into the Championship, contracts, your wages obviously reduce and everything, and then people lose their jobs and whatever.
If you had to say to a St Mirren fan at the beginning of the season, you win the League Cup and you'll stay in the Premier League, that's magnificent for them. But I thought they were in real trouble. And even at half-time last night, and obviously Tom was at the game, he probably had a different feeling being a St Mirren fan. I just thought Parth taking the first half looked the most dangerous.
I thought St Mirren were dreadful first half. I really did. I thought they were dreadful. They look nervy. They didn't look like they had a game plan. There was nothing going right for them. And I think if Partick had scored... I think they would have found themselves in real, real trouble. But in the second half, you've got to show a wee bit of character.
And the game was decided with a set play. And I've got to say, as much as Mark will be disappointed as a Partick Thistle manager losing a set play, what a finish that is. It's incredible, isn't it? Yeah, what a finish that is. All credit to him. What a finish that is. There's not a goalkeeper in the world saving that.
And it was fitting that that was the goal that went on to secure their Premier League status.
Tom, has Craig McLeish done enough for you to get the job full-time?
