So it's not new.

It's sort of reheated and put out in front of the front of the masses to say we're taking a, you know.

taking action again on housing.

But it will be messy because one of the aspects of this will be cross-checked.

So you will have to declare that you have a derelict property.

You will pay a levy to revenue of around 7%, it looks like.

And then that will be cross-checked against a register compiled by local authorities.

So...

How is that going to work in terms of if they don't trust the local authorities to enact the levy, how will they trust them to enact or compile a comprehensive register of all derelict properties so that dereliction is actually tackled?

So there are questions about how it will work.

John McManus from the Irish Times is a good piece on

kind of very well written piece about his kind of concerns about the entire thing.

But I think the question will be how it looks when it is finally announced and when it will come into effect.

One of the concerns are that local authorities might be too concerned about

due to local politics to properly enforce a different tax.
