Mm-hmm.
And basically, you know, and part of it goes through the process and says, this is how you can complain about me if you want to.
And this is the first thing you have to do in NZ is give them a statement of advice.
And the guy said to me, can you just fucking tell me how much I can borrow?
You know, after about 20 minutes of reading all this stuff.
And I get why you have to have that, right?
But it's not what is important for the person sitting in front of you that wants to know how much they can borrow if they can go and buy this piece of land and build their dream.
And I thought to myself, this is wrong.
He's right.
He's absolutely right.
The first thing I have to do is tell him about all of this regulation and all of this mumbo-jumbo about who I am and how you can complain about me.
yeah anyway yeah yeah so is that the sort of thing with the book like the the when did you start it and how long has it been mate and are you sort of happy with the finished product so it's been a work in progress i actually started writing this in the coca islands 20 years ago really yeah so i had a little bit of time to start things up there yeah and i've adapted it and changed it and altered it and i've just recently updated and it's been used
hundreds or probably thousands of times in NZ, I would give it to people and go, right, here's what you should do if you're keen on getting into your first home at some stage and you've got a bit of debt, let's get rid of that debt and let's show you how to save to get your deposit going underway to get you into a house and I'll be there to help you through that process.
And I've changed it and updated it recently because the laws in Australia are a little bit different and the speak's a little bit different, but it's pretty much the same.
So we've updated it and I thought, well, let's get into it here too.
The book is called Debt Free Me and it's a practical workbook.
So it talks in there about a whole lot of stuff and it's got some worksheets in there which are great because I believe, like you can, a lot of people out there will go and use budget advisory tools
and they're online the banks provide a lot of them but i don't i don't believe they work for the average joe i mean you're not going to pick up your phone and go where am i this week and how am i tricking my spending and that sort of stuff um and a big thick book about finances you can go and buy any one of them at a bookshop but people aren't going to read that either yeah it's too big and it's too thick and most blokes daunting to look at yeah most blokes don't read books
No, we're not interested in that.
I can't fucking read to start with.
