And so I always say to people, this story is an amazing story because it has so much witness testimony.
Unfortunately, there was very little witness testimony that was recorded at the time in the local newspaper, which did cover the story over a couple of weeks, front page news for them.
they really only got the testimony of two people.
The science teacher, Andrew Greenwood, one of the two science teachers at the high school, and one of the high school kids, Marilyn Eastwood.
And we have one other primary
record from the time, which was this account that was given by a witness at the high school, which he then provided for the newsletter of his former primary school.
And it was an account written within the days or possibly weeks, but not months after the incident.
So that's a primary testimony, primary evidence.
But we don't have much more than that from the time.
So most of what we have is really what I started gathering when I started my research in 2005 onwards and so I've always played an open bat with people and I've always said there's been a long time between the incident happening and me coming onto the scene and starting my research but
there's nothing I can do about that and I've always sort of said that well it's better to start it now than never.
It's a shame that not more was done at the time or closer to the time but of course I had the benefit of the internet having come along and social media having come along and although of course that has its drawbacks
and hazard traps has also been very beneficial as a way of certainly gathering information and encouraging people to come forward, but also building a sense of community and providing hopefully a relatively safe place for people to come forward and share their information.
So that wonderful grassroots organization, you know, back in the day, in the 1960s, when there were citizen UFO clubs all around the world, and we have them in Australia as well.
They're nearly all gone now.
But at the time, there was one called the Victorian Flying Saucer Research Society.
And for quite a while, it was the largest organization.
citizen UFO organization in the southern hemisphere in terms of membership was very active, especially in terms of being a social organization.
allowing people to come together for regular meetings and to hear guest speakers, to hear some of the office holders of the organisation share their insights and share some of the results of their research.
And so that organisation was the one that in the days after did visit Westall.
